Douglas Dean Lee Spencer

Douglas Dean Lee Spencer - L.L.B

Doug was admitted as a solicitor in 1970 having done his articles for a law firm in the city. He then went to Papua New Guinea where he worked as a lawyer for several years. He joined Miller Noyce in 1973 and became a partner in 1976. Since that time he has handled matters in most areas of law with a particular focus on business, commercial, property and estate planning matters. Doug was in the first group of solicitors in this State to be accepted (in 1993) as an Accredited Specialist in Business Law and has been reaccredited every year ever since.

Over the years, Doug has handled a very wide range of legal matters for many people in many circumstances. He has extensive experience in acting for “people” in most areas of the law, whether it is in relation to their personal lives or in respect to their business and commercial affairs. This extends from assisting people in buying and selling their homes and preparing wills, powers of attorney and handling estates for them to advising and assisting on the sale, purchase and restructure of businesses and in acting for them in difficult commercial litigation in all jurisdictions. Doug also has extensive experience in advising people on estate planning and the re-structuring of their business and commercial affairs.

Doug has always been actively involved in the community. He was in Rotary for over 25 years, and received a Paul Harris Fellowship for his services. In addition, Doug received The Premier of New South Wales Community Service Award in 1995 “In appreciation and recognition for the ongoing support to various community groups”. Doug was the President of the Hornsby & District Chamber of Commerce from 1980-1986 and was involved in many of the important issues that have shaped the growth and redevelopment of Hornsby. In more recent years, Doug has been the Chairman in this area for the Red Shield Appeal for the Salvation Army. He is also a director of GP Network Northside which endeavours to enhance the provision of medical services by general practitioners in this area. In addition, Doug is a director of Studio Artes which provides a wonderful opportunity for people with disabilities to develop their interests and skills in different forms of artistic expression.
